Safe Travels

As a result of the new normal that is emerging after the COVID-19 pandemic, different organizations, both national and international, have been developing protocols and certifications to ensure that tourism spaces are safe. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the organization representing private sector tourism companies, launched a series of security measures for the industry and a seal to recognize the good application of these protocols.

WTC Protocols

With the help of the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Prevention, governments and industry associations, the World Travel and Tourism Council designed these health and safety protocols to help the tourism sector recover at the global level. worldwide, taking care of the health of employees and visitors.

Safe Travels

Established measures

Among the measures of the WTTC protocols for hotels are the use of technologies to allow payments without physical contact, keeping staff up to date with WHO recommendations through training and using disinfection products endorsed by the authorities of the health.

In the case of airlines, the protocols were carried out in conjunction with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and include measures such as providing disinfectant products such as antibacterial gel to passengers, monitoring the number of people in waiting rooms and avoiding long lines by creating new signs.

Safe Travels Certification

This seal granted by the WTTC, and is endorsed by the World Tourism Organization, can be obtained by companies and destinations that comply with all the hygiene and sanitation measures established in the corresponding protocols.

With Safe Travels certification, travelers will be able to identify destinations and businesses around the world that have adopted the World Travel and Tourism Council's health and hygiene standards so they can experience safe travel.

Certified Destinations

Barcelona, Bulgaria, Ontario, Jamaica, Ukraine, Seville, Portugal, Madrid, Baja California Sur, Yucatán and Cancún, are the places that currently have the Safe Travel seal and it is expected that, little by little, more cities will join this list.
